There is a provision for documentation of PBR through Biodiversity Management Committee at local self government level under Section 41 of Biological Diversity Act, 2002. As per NGT's orders in court case number 347/2016 on dated 14/9/2019, local self-government agencies should complete documentation of PBR through BMC in their jurisdiction by the end of 31/1/2020. A fine of Rs.10 Lakhs per month will be imposed and deposited to the central pollution control board until 100% BMC & 100% documentation of PBR is completed.
