About Access and Benefit Sharing

The Biological Diversity Act, 2002 provides a framework for regulating access to biological resources and associated traditional knowledge. The "Guidelines on Access to Biological Resources and Associated Knowledge and Benefit Sharing Regulation 2014" were notified on 21 November 2014 by the Central Government. The Maharashtra State Biodiversity Board (MSBB) and its Techno Legal Advisory Committee play a crucial role in implementing these guidelines, ensuring equitable sharing of benefits arising from the utilization of biological resources and associated knowledge.
